Ely Tidal Harbour with coal tips and the docks high above

The tide's out - a view from the mud and shale bed of the Ely Tidal Harbour with coal tips and the docks high above us. The water would rise at about an inch (2.54 cm) per minute at Spring tides and it is quite normal to expect 30 - 40 feet (10 - 13 m) of muddy turbulent water above your head if you wore your lead boots and stayed too long! The image provided Julie with the inspiration for the pen and ink drawing she made for the home page. [000] [002]
