Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

about . . .

Volume One - Into the Victorian Age - The Penarth Shipbuilding & Ship Repairing Company Limited . . .

I have established that as late as 1909 the Penarth Ship Building & Shiprepairing Company was building and launching ships from the slipway. Mr. A. H. Weeks history of the company (see : The History of the Penarth Dock Engineering Group ) records that in December 1908, the name of the Company was changed to the Penarth Pontoon, Slipway & Shiprepairing Co. Ltd.

Since the author of the document held by the National Museum of Wales is unknown and sources of information are not referenced, I have concerns regarding the authenticity and accuracy of many of the statements made within.

'Penarth Ship Building & Repairing Co Ld, Penarth dock. All classes of repairs executed with economy & despatch. Te add : " Slipway. " Nat Tel 14.'

1907 - An advertisement published under Ship Repairers within Cope's Directory [714] :

'Penarth Ship Building & Repairing Co Ld, Penarth dock. All classes of repairs executed with economy & despatch. Tel add : " Slipway. " Nat Tel 14.'
