• 1896 - 'Penarth Dock - All Tips Engaged!' - The photograph is dated 17th November 1896 and states that dock shipments for the day are 14,023 tons! It also names eleven steamers which are waiting for tips ; 'Friary' ; 'Newark' ; 'Lord Bangor' ; 'Milicent' ; Clendale' ; 'Walton' ; 'Celeste' ; 'Avon' ; 'Crosshill' ; 'Mary Thomas' ; 'Guiana' Tug. A busy day at the docks indeed! The lower image has been colourised.
