1896 - '6 Steamers Waiting for Tips' - Penarth Dock - The photograph is dated 23rd December 1896 and lists the vessels : 'Bangarth' : 'Simon Damios' : 'Geronos' : 'Vera' : 'Glenochiel' : 'Roehampton'. Dock shipment is 14,193 Tons. The lower image has been colourised.

The vessel in the foreground is the s.s. 'Cairnlyon' (1,410 gross register tons) which was built at South Shields on Tyneside at the yard of John Redhead & Sons Limited in 1882. She was renamed s.s. 'Elsie' in 1912 and remained in service until misfortune struck, during November 1939, when she ran aground and broke her back. [214]
