1903 - Penarth Dock
This postcard view dating after 1905 shows the Penarth Dock from the southern escarpment near the basin end of the dock. The coal tip closest is number 1, an original dating from 1865 but upgraded at some date, probably in the 1880's when the dock was enlarged. Next is number 2 tip which was built and installed by Armstrong & Co. of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. This is a much valued postcard from the Penarth Dock Collection. [001]

Penarth Dock - the coal tips

A postcard view of the coal tips taken from the steps at the end of the Penarth Dock of an original (number 1) and a newer type of coal tip (number 2) built by Armstrong & Co. and installed in 1896. Sail and steam are side by side in this lovely heritage view. The postcard is from the Knight Collection of British View Cards and has a post date during October 1908. The steam vessel moored along-side the beautiful three-masted barque with the white hull is the s.s. 'Bertha'. This fine postcard view is held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001]
