British Foundrymen at the Penarth Docks, Cardiff - A tour of the Penarth docks and hydraulic plants as reported within the periodical 'The Foundry' Volume 40 Number 1, published in Cleveland, Ohio during January 1912. The tour formed part of the proceedings of a conference held at Cardiff during the previous August.
This photograph was posed beside coal tip number 18 between and upon the traversing rails. These four tips, numbers 15 to 18, were erected by Messrs. Fielding and Platt of Gloucester during 1899-1900 which subsequently gave claim by 1908 that Penarth Dock was the 'most efficient coal shipping dock in the world'. [573]
