s.s. 'Orozco' moored beside the hydraulic house on the north quay of Penarth Dock

s.s. 'Orozco' moored light beside the hydraulic house on the north quay of Penarth Dock. She was built at Glasgow in 1888 being of 2,589 gross register tonnage and was lost in 1915. She foundered, with her cargo of iron ore, on a voyage from Bilbao to Middlesbrough 50 miles off Rochelle her crew being rescued by a tug. Another fine photograph borrowed from Geoffrey A. North's series of books Images of Wales specifically relating to Penarth and Sully. [616] [20171206] Geoffrey states in his book that the photo dates from c.1920 but as she foundered during 1915, this seems to be unlikely!
