Exmouth - broken-up in Penarth Dock

An enlargement of the photo taken from the 'Sketch Magazine' snippet of July 1905 the text of which stated that the 'Exmouth' is now being broken up in Penarth Dock. [001] [362]

Having studied the image closely, I and am satisfied that this photograph was not taken in the Penarth Dock or the Ely Tidal Harbour since the coal tips, distant, are not of a type installed at Penarth. On the south side of the Penarth Dock the stone lining is at a much steeper angle. The river Ely had stone lining at a similar angle but there were no coal tips on the opposite bank of this type. It is, therefore, a mystery where this photo was taken.
