End elevation of Penarth pontoon

End elevation of Penarth pontoon

A section of the drawing of the proposed off-shore pontoon for Penarth. An end elevation from the bow end showing the main cross-sectional dimensions and 8 off pivoting booms to the quayside which permitted the pontoon to rise and fall.

This is a section of the General Arrangement drawing which is a blueprint and which has been digitally corrected by me to make it clearer to read. The creases in the drawing are due to the fact that the these antique drawings are quite fragile and should not be folded flat otherwise they could be permanently damaged. How would you feel if you had been folded up tight for over a hundred years and then some Welsh pillock comes along and stretches you flat out on a desk! [062]
