1920's Penarth Dock
This c.1920 postcard taken from the eastern end of the main dock showing a ship about to be loaded with coal at tip number 2. She is high in the water and the crew have placed a tarpaulin over the bridge to control coal dust. Maybe the captain is not too happy eating coal dust! [080]

A 1920's view (with colourised version) of the Greek steamship "Contantinos Contsodotis" loading coal at Tip Nos. 19 and 20 situated on the north quay of the dock. Note that tip number 19 (right hand tip) has a coal truck already on the cradle waiting to tip its load of Welsh steam coal down the shute into the forward hold of the ship. [000] [002]
