1955 - Penarth Dock map
The OS map published in 1955, shows the lines of the sidings on the southern side of the dock but it is not clear if they are still in use at the time of the survey.

Penarth Dock - Track layout GWR - 1940 - 1963

This track layout of Penarth Dock covers the period 1940 - 1963. It states that all the sidings were removed on the southern side of the dock by 1955, thus confirming the probable state of flux at the time of the survey for the OS map.

Coal tips numbers 2, 8 and 10 are still in use. All other tips and their associated sidings were subsequently decommissioned and the coal trade was effectively over for Penarth. From my recollection, however, the trade at Cardiff, Newport and Barry continued but at a much reduced capacity into the 1960's. [010] [008]
