Penarth Dock Engineering apprentcies 1966

A photo of the Penarth Dock Engineering Company Limited apprentices of 1966-67 complete with Mr. Ted Smith ("Hector") just before his retirement and Mr. Williams "Caswell", the new apprentice trainer.

Back row left to right: Stewart Woodfield (Lurch, U-rang) - David Carder (I wasn't aware of any nickname but Dai-the-Rat was once used!) - Kenneth Coombes (Jesus) - Nigel Stevenson - Brian Bowles - Kenneth Byrnes

Front row left to right: Mr. Williams (Caswell) - William Muir (Jock) - Tony Evans (Evo) - Gary Oaten - Mr. T. H. I. Smith (Ted, etc) - Gwyn Willacott (Wager, Black, Scratch, Fungus Face) - Tony Brown (Brownie, Hovis)

Front kneeling (or praying for forgiveness): David Curtis (Ugly).

Hiding away on the roof behind the chimney, too scared to come down was Howard Jones (Primo). I think we allleft him there overnight and the police assisted him to ground level on Saturday morning.

The names and nicknames are scribbled on the rear of the photo by me, David Carder, in 1966 and are replicated here "Without Prejudice"! [001]
