Moonfleet Marine Mouldings of Penarth Dock
Moonfleet Marine Mouldings Ltd.

The Moonfleet Marine Mouldings Company V-6 General Purpose Fast Launch named the 'Silver Shadow' first produced c.1965.

The upper image shows the Silver Shadow coming onto the plane and is taken from an advertising brochure published by the company. It claims that the boat has fast and attractive lines. The power unit is a compact V-6 engine (that shown in the lower image being an adapted Ford Zodiac 110 b.h.p. engine) and the design is based upon the 'Aquila' shown on the previous page. It is reputed to have a top speed of 50 m.p.h. In 1967 it cost a mere £1,375 and the 'Aquila' was £1,250. The boat was 15' - 6" long x 5' - 3" beam x 1' - 3" draught, weighs 1,500 lbs being built from GRP at the Penarth Dock facility. A contemporary magazine article stated that 150 of the 'Aquila' model had been built and were in service by 1967. [000] [002]
