1974 - The meandering River Ely and Penarth Dock in September 1974. The dam is in place across the dock as shown in the section of the OS map dating from 1970 - 1974 below. [010] [398] The extent of uncontrolled tipping is clearly evident. The works of the Penarth Dock Engineering Company are still in place as are the single storey buildings skirting the quayside at the site of the pontoon. The pontoon is buried below the dam.
