Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .
Volume Five - The Age of Decline & Crass Stupidity- What happened after the docks closed? . . .
1980's - A view (with colourised version) of the Penarth Dock Basin from the sea-lock looking toward the 'dam' which separated the basin from the main dock. The basin was tidal at this date since the lock gates had been removed. The image is borrowed from Stephen K. Jones extremely informative series of volumes entitled 'Brunel in South Wales' [611]
1980's – A section of the OS map [010] showing that the basin and dock are dammed off by this date. The basin is open to the sea and thus is silting up due to the tidal effects.
