The upper image [069] shows the offices of Penarth Dock Engineering from the escarpment in a state of disrepair and with the dock filled in right up to its western quayside.

The lower image dates from 1984 and is an enlarged aerial view [089] of the western end of the dock including the engineering works and the dam plus the extent of landfill at that time.
