Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

Volume Six - Pre-Victorian to the Present Day - Select Aspects - The subway under the river Ely story . . .

A view through the River Ely Subway, Penarth.
A view from the northern entry looking into the subway and disappearing into the darkness is the temporary lighting installed for the survey. [009] [060]

A ring of the cast iron subway segments - River Ely, Penarth.
One of the rings close by the entrance showing the detail of the flanged connections between the segments. There is a drawing of a lady with a caption which I can't quite capture - probably just as well! Also, would the following fall in for inspection please! ; M. O'Connell of the Welch Regiment dated 1946, also R. Ayres on the 5th May 1947 and Mr. George Walsh who was present on the 5th June 1934(?). Does anyone know who they were please? [009] [060]
