For the survey they numbered each ring. This a view looking south at ring number 30 which is above the water line prior to pumping out the subway and about 14m (45 feet) inside measured from the northern, Ferry Road side. The original paintwork can be seen, white (or cream) above black. I recall it was white, so perhaps the cream colour is an earlier paint coating or an undercoat. [009] [060]

Now we are below the level of the flooded subway at ring number 130. This is 195 feet (59.4m) inside the subway and on a steady 1:9 incline downwards. The corrosion is noticeable but not found to be excessive or structurally problematic. Also note the line of the lighting going into the darkness - scary! [009] [060]
