The 'Penarth Ferry' the double ended paddle steamer 'Kate' photographed in the 1880's according to Cardiff County Library's Media Collection. She was, however, built in 1893 so I respectfully suggest that the photograph dates from sometime later. She is pictured on service heading back toward Pier Head, Bute Docks, Cardiff. Astern is the low water landing stage and a steamer on a voyage from Cardiff to who knows where? The photograph is from the Cardiff County Library's Media Collection. I have taken the liberty of enhancing the images a little and the enlargement has been converted to sepia tone and adjusted in an attempt to show more detail.
