1888 - After the fire in September - The remains, complete with a partially collapsed supporting wall, of 'T' Warehouse, Victoria Wharf, Ely Tidal Harbour, Penarth Dock. Crowds were drawn from Grangetown and beyond to view the conflagration as the following excerpt from the Cardiff Times reports : -

'It seemed almost as if the whole of the buildings lining the Ely Harbour were enveloped in flames, such was the area of the conflagration and the height to which the vast tongues of fire leaped up. Dense clouds of smoke rose from the place, and as night came on the glare lit up the distant houses, the thick clumps of trees, the railway embankments, the huge sheds, the masts of the shipping, and every prominent object for hundreds of yards around.' - Cardiff Times [019] [361] 22nd September 1888.
