1890 - Penarth Centrifugal Pumps - Retaining Wall in River - Drawings. A Taff Vale Railway scale drawing signed by no less than T. Hurry Riches dated 1st November 1890 for the Proposed Culvert for the Pumping Engine House at Penarth Dock. The red areas in the upper drawing signifies that the masonry is to be chisel dressed.
The lower drawing, I believe to be the construction detail for the culvert, which extended from the rear of the 'Retaining Wall in River' (upper drawing) across to the Pumping Engine House. This culvert was structural since it extended under a number of railway-lines and the roadway which serviced the northern quay of the dock and basin as well as the slipway works etc.
