H.M.S. Milne in Plymouth Sound in 1940
H.M.S. Milne in Plymouth Sound in 1940. A photograph borrowed from a great website 'Royal naval Vessels in Plymouth sound in World War II'. [560] She was chosen for a refit, or rather a conversion, at Plymouth Dockyard to a Type 62 Frigate but was subsequently found to be unsuitable and the work was never carried out. She was transferred to Penarth Dock to be laid-up as part of the RN Reserve Fleet and later placed on the for-sale list. Following a re-fit, she was sold to the Turkish Navy in June 1959 and remained in service as the 'Alp Arsian' until being broken up in 1971.
