1917 : Our Brave Heroes at the Front - Barry Boxing Sergeant Killed - Intimation of the death in action on October 15 in France, of Sergeant Ted Boyle, Royal Garrison Artillery, has been received by his wife, Mrs. Boyle, of 2, George-street, Barry Docks, and was well-known as a boxer. Before the war he was employed at Penarth Pontoon. - Barry Dock News [140] [361] 23rd November 1917

1946 : A Supplement to the London Gazette [100] of 9th January, 1946 states 'The KING has been graciously pleased for the following promotions in, and appointments to, the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire : - David Ross, Esq., Assistant General Manager, Penarth Pontoon, Slipway & Ship Repairing Company Ltd.'

1946 : A Supplement to the London Gazette [100] of 24th June, 1946 states 'The KING has been graciously pleased on the occasion of the Celebration of His Majesty's Birthday, to approve the award of the British Empire Medal (Civil Division) to the undermentioned : - Charles Phelps, Machine Shop Chargehand, Penarth Pontoon, Slipway & Ship Repairing Company Ltd.'

1923 : Lewis Lougher : The Report on the Labour & Capital in Parliament of January states : 'This is a complete list of all Members of the House of Commons who are directors or in other ways connected with Capitalist industry or land.', and lists Mr Lewis Lougher connected to the Cardiff Chamber of Commerce and the Penarth Pontoon, Slipway and Ship Repairing Co., Ltd. and having a Capital value of £152,525. May 1941 - With the Forces - War Casualties - It is with regret that we record the following details of Great Western men who have lost their lives while on active service :— Guardsman G. Payne, Welsh Guards, formerly a labourer at Penarth Dock. - GWR Magazine [1348] [1349]
