George Osborne Howell [1899 - 1918]

George Osborne Howell was born in Cogan in 1899. In 1911 he was living at 21 King Street with his parents Henry and Sarah Ann Howell and brothers Edwin, James, Robert and William. George served in 1st / 4th Battalion, the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry with the rank of Private (service number 31521). He was killed in action on 26th March 1918 aged 19 and is commemorated on Bay 7., Arras Memorial. He formerly served in T.R. Battalion (service number4/21845). Before enlisting he was employed as a cleaner at the TVR sheds in Penarth Dock. George was a member of the Red Cross Society. - [358]
