Volume Eight - Pre-Victorian to the present day - more aspects - Pamir and Passat - the end of an era . . . The following photographs from the Hansen Collection are held within the National Museum of Wales, Amgueddfa Cymru.
I found the following account of the arrival of these ships at Penarth, being a response to an article within 'Sea Breezes' by a gentleman named Clive Spencer living now in New Zealand. He recalls that the barques Pamir and Passat loaded at Port Victoria, Spencer Gulf, Australia in 1949 for what was to prove to be the very last Grain Race from Australia to the United Kingdom. I emailed Clive and he was very happy to contribute his story to the website - thank you Clive! |
