Arthur Weaver - 'Pamir and Passat at Penarth, Wales.' - 1950.

Arthur Weaver - 'Pamir and Passat at Penarth, Wales.' - A fine watercolour of the scene at Penarth Dock probably dating from 1950. [437]

I adore this watercolour which has captured the essence of the dock with ships laid-up and the barques 'Passat' and 'Pamir' moored at the northern quay awaiting permission to discharge their cargoes of grain. A rusty ship, an abandoned wooden coal truck, a coal tip and the Customs House nestling under Penarth Head. I can hear the seagulls and smell the sweet air! Thank you Arthur for capturing the moment for us to savour.

Arthur was a British artist born in 1918 and died 2008. He was famous worldwide for his golfing works of art.
