Unknown artist - s.v. 'The Buckhurst'

Unknown artist - s.v. 'The Buckhurst' [731] - She was built in 1880 at the Dunbarton yard of Macmillan & Son being of iron hull construction and of 1,908 gross register tons. During May 1897, whilst en route for Panama loaded with coal loaded at Newcastle-on-Tyne, she caught fire and was abandoned to her fate. Here, this unknown artist has caught her wonderfully in full sail, making headway up the Bristol Channel with Steep Holm distant, probably heading for Cardiff or Penarth for a load of the best Welsh steam coal. Many thanks to WreckSite for the technical information. [214] [20190826]
