Rowland Frederick Hilder (1905 - 1993) - Baary No. 2 Dock.

Rowland Frederick Hilder (1905 - 1993) - a British landscape artist and book illustrator of American descent. He arrived in the UK during 1915 and went on to study at Goldsmith’s College, London where he met his wife Edith Blenkiron. An accomplished water colour artist, his reputation enhanced, he served as President of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, and in 1986 was awarded an O.B.E.

The work illustrates the No. 2 Dock at Barry with the impressive Atlantic Mills featured. In the foreground the ship repairing dry docks and workshops. Simply an impressive, atmospheric, interpretation of dock activity. The above is taken from a print purchased as a present for my home office. [001] [736]
