The paddle steamer 'Tintern' was originally built as the 'Tantallon Castle' in 1899 at the yard of J. Scott & Co. at Kinghorn. She was of 333 tons gross register, 119 net tons, 210' - 1" long x 25' - " breath x 8' - 4" depth. Renamed 'Sussex Belle' then 'Rhos Colwyn, she became the 'Westonia' for the Barry Railway Co. and was sold to P. & A. Campbell in 1911 following the protracted disputes, she was rebuilt with only one funnel and upgraded by Campbell's and renamed 'Tintern'. Then in 1913 she became the 'Alentejo' having been sold to Portuguese owners and was finally broken up c.1924. [154]

In the book 'White Funnel Magic', Nigel Coombes states that 'The 'Westonia' passed out of the Barry Railway Company's hands (1905-9) to Bristol Channel Passenger Boats Ltd., Cardiff for the two seasons following. this photograph from slightly ahead of the beam, taken by Wehrley of Penarth (probably 1910), shows the 'Westonia' to her best advantage.'
