The Pier, Penarth
Chikdren on Penarth Pier
'The Pier, Penarth' A postcard to Nurse Suttcliffe at the Women's Hospital, Sparkfield, Birmingham from E. Lewis at number 9 Albert Road, Penarth. The note begins Dear Nurse . . . The date is not known since the postage stamp has been robbed from the card. I would suggest that the image dates from the turn of the twentieth century. Note the Esplanade Hotel and the children posing on the pier. I enlarged the image to show them in a period when the axiom was that children should been seen and not heard! [001]

Penarth Pier
Penarth Pier 1905
Another fine view of the pier at Penarth complete with wishes for a Merry Xmas. The postcard was posted on the 5th December 1905, has a Penarth postmark and is addressed to a lady in Putney, London. Below this is an enlargement of a lady in her finery, complete with parasol, taking the Severn Sea air. [001]
