The vessel was built at the yard of William Harkness & Son Limited at Middlesbrough for the Meteor Steamship Company Limited (Constantine & Donking) also of Middlesbrough. She was launched during November 1907 was of 654 gross and 257 net register tons, 176.0 feet long x 29.8 feet breath and 10.8 feet depth.
She met her fate on the 12th February 1916 when she was mined and sunk by the German submarine UC4 whilst c.2 miles off Aldbrough Napes on passage from Middlesbrough for Fecamp with a cargo of pig iron. There were six casualties. She was a regular visitor to Swansea Docks running charters to France.
