Colliery Lines and Private Sidings over which Western Region Engines Work or Exchange Traffic.

Colliery Lines and Private Sidings over which Western Region Engines Work or Exchange Traffic. This section provides and insight into the limitations in place over traffic running upon private sidings on the Penarth Harbour Branch and to the Pontoon situated on Penarth Dock. The (Pontoon) siding into the yard of the Penarth Dock Engineering Company, where I served my apprenticeship, was still in place, but unused, during the mid to late 1960's. The above table is edited and is taken from the Appendix to Section 9 of the Service Timetables dated March 1950 by British Railways and borrowed from an amazing book, 'Rails in the Valleys' by James Page.
