The Mission Yacht "Eirene", launched May 7, 1898. The Rev. C. W. Browne, Chaplin and the photographer was T. L. Howe of Penarth.
The Mission Yacht "Eirene" launched May 7, 1898. The Rev. C. W. Browne was Chaplin at this time and the photographer was T. L. Howe of Penarth. The launch took place from the slipway of the Penarth Ship Building and Ship Repairing Company Limited into the River Ely. The photograph is held within the Glamorgan Archives. The Mission Yacht "Eirene" - Consecrated May 16, 1898. The Rev. C. W. Browne, Chaplin presided, accompanied by his 'crew' of choristers and the dedication was performed by the Lord Bishop of Llandaff. This photograph is also held within the Glamorgan Archives. The photographer was Mr. T. L. Howe of Penarth who was listed as working in Maughan Street, Penarth and also as an artist and miniature painter at the Penarth Promenade from the mid-1880's. The colourised versions seem to bring the event to life! [633]
