Two heritage views of the bridge in use. On the opposite embankment of the River Taff is Grangetown and the road to Penarth Dock. In the upper image the horses pass each other as the axles of the carts almost collide!
Could the gentleman on the right in the lower image and wearing a bowler hat be the Penarth Harbour, Dock and Railway Company appointed official for controlling the opening and closing the bridge for shipping to pass? And who is the little urchin on the left of the bridge?
Two more fine photographs borrowed with thanks from the on-line digital media collection of Cardiff Central Library. [405]
