Swiss Cottage, Fairwater - c.1905 - Another of Martin J. Ridley's photographic records of the features of the suburbs of Cardiff in this fine semi-rural scene. The cottage, complete with hayrick in the garden (probably winter feed for horses), was situated on St. Fagan's Road and built just prior to the turn of the twentieth century. Note the timber-framed construction and the unique spiral terracotta chimneys of this late Victorian house. A fine building which according to the National Library of Wales was apparently demolished in 1972. The postcards are held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [M.J.R.B.8548] [20190516]
