Rennie & Coy. at the same prices as the Coal Drops. Mr. Dobson to prepare a contract accordingly. Resolved, that the said approval and instructions be and are confirmed. 15.12.1858 : Contract for the Public Wharf with Messrs. Rennie & Coy. sealed. Ordered, that the Committee of Works report to the next meeting of the Board on the general arrangements necessary for the opening of the undertaking. Mr. Dobson stated that he had called upon the Contractors to remove the Slip in the second reach of the river, believing it to be in accordance with the terms of the Contract for them to do so. They had, however, declined, and the Slip was, therefore, still in the river, causing serious injury to the rest of the slopes. Ordered, that the Engineers be desired to give their immediate attention to this matter. The Director's clearly understand that they are in no way liable to remove the Slip at the Company's expense. |
