8.6.1859 : Ordered, that Mr. Dobson be reminded that the Directors will object to pay anything for the Bridge beyond the £2,000 contracted for on the 6th August 1857, and that the Contract with Messrs. Rennie & Coy. of 13th May 1859 for the removal and purchase of the Bridge has reference exclusively to the materials as shewn on the drawings for the bridge for which the said £2,000 was paid.

9.7.1859 : Resolved, that Engineers be instructed to require the Contractors to raise the road over the slip so that the trade may pass over.

That notice be given to the Freighters of the Company's intention to open their Line and Harbour for traffic on Monday 18th Inst.

15.8.1859 : The Engineers were instructed to require the Contractors to keep the road over Slip in proper repair for Engines to run over.

29.8.1859 : 'Your Directors have great pleasure in stating that the works connected with your main line of Railway and Tidal Harbour have been so far completed as to enable them to open the same for public traffic. The works of the Dock Contract have been commenced'.

Engineers Report : 'We have to report that the Harbour Works - the Coal Drops and the Ballast Wharf and the works of the Railway between the junction with the Taff Vale Railway and the Harbour are so far completed as to admit of being open for traffic: The Contractors for the Dock and for the Branch Railway leading thereto have commenced the excavations on the side of the Dock and the pile work in the river.

2.9.1859 : Mr. Greaves among those who tendered (successfully) for fixing only 'Anti-breakage apparatus' for the Harbour at £18 - 10 - 0d a piece.

Alteration to Dock Entrance approved, 'provided that the Contract with Messrs. Smith & Knight be not thereby in any way invalidated'. To be executed at the Contact Schedule of prices.
