On Sheet 1, Figure 1 is a plan of the upper portion of a slipway constructed according to our Invention without a ship upon the cradles ; Figure 2 is a side elevation of the same with a ship resting upon the main cradle ; shewn in full lines, and the ship hauled up the increasing slope or inclination of the auxiliary ways and resting on the auxiliary cradle, shewn in dotted lines.
