The Tier, No. 1 Dock, Barry Docks.

The Tier, No. 1 Dock, Barry Docks.

• The Tier, No. 1 Dock, Barry Docks. - The geological problems encountered during the excavation and construction of the number one dock at Barry provided space for 'The Tier' to be built. It is fundamentally a masonry pier extending into the dock upon which additional coal tips were originally constructed. Another fine heritage postcard held within the Penarth Dock Collection. Barry Docks & Coal Tips, Cardiff.

• Barry Docks & Coal Tips, Cardiff. - A postcard view looking westwards at No.1 Barry Dock with 'The Tier' beyond. I see some large chunks of steam coal in the Lockett's colliery wagons awaiting their turn to be loaded. The card is a 'Pocket Novels' supplied by Brett's Publications which is held within the Penarth Dock Collection. The lower image has been colourised. [001] [20200307]
