s.s. 'Albatros' - Report of Ship Forgings for Albatros - 3rd October 1884 -  Screw Steamer No.4. She was constructed at the yard of the Penarth Ship Building & Ship Repairing Co. Ltd. during 1887. The discrepancy of almost three years between completion and inspection of the stern-frame and rudder-frame forgings and construction of the vessel at Penarth is a mystery. I wonder if Mr. H. Cameron could enlighten us! I would love to have been witness to the forging and welding process for these items ; yet another engineering technique and skill lost in the mists of time!
