s.s. 'Arethusa' - Report of Survey for Repairs for Arethusa - 18th August 1873. The vessel was of 1,272 Gross Register Tonnage and registered at the Port of Liverpool having been built by Robert Steele & Company of Greenock in 1869.
A note records that the survey was undertaken by the late Mr. W. Johnson and under the auspices of the Swansea survey office but within Penarth Dock. There is no entry in the 1872 Surveyors Register for Cardiff based surveyors but for the ports of Swansea, with Neath and Llanelly, W. N. Johnson is listed as a surveyor, but does not hold appointment as an exclusive servant of the Society. The document was initialed 'H. T. T.' being Mr. Henry T. Tyrrell whom in 1874 is listed in the Register as an exclusive officer of the Society and with duties at Cardiff and Newport, Mon. I do hope that I have correctly identified these gentlemen.
