s.s. 'Ascupart' - Report of Survey for Repairs of Engines & Boilers for Ascupart - 19th May 1879. The surveyor was Mr. A. E. Keydell. She was of 1,351 Gross Register Tonnage and registered at the time at the Port of Southampton having been built by Matthew Pearse & Company Limited of Stockton-on-Tees during 1875.
The reason for the survey was that 'On the request of the Owner proceeded to Penarth for the purpose of ascertaining the nature and extent of a flaw, reported to be in the upper crankpin.' Mr. A. E. Keydell examined the vessel and stated on the report, 'I am of the opinion, that the defect is only a skin flaw and not detrimental to the safety of the crankshaft in its present condition.'
The vessel was renamed twice and was lost as s.s. 'Costas' when she ran aground on Petro Island, Tenedos during early February 1906.
A few days after this survey was undertaken one member of the crew did not sail with the ship :
