s.s. 'Vulcain' formerly s.s. 'North Devon'.
In 1898  s.s. 'North Devon' came under the ownership of G. Vallée at Rouen and was renamed s.s. 'Vulcain'. She sank as a consequence of a collision, during August 1913, with the German vessel s.s. 'Schwarzwald' whilst on a voyage from Bordeaux to Cardiff loaded with a cargo of pitwood. The photograph above is her as s.s. 'Vulcain' and the copyright is assigned to the Robert Bomans collection. Many thanks to Tyne Built Ships for the information. [102]
