Ship on Fire - Serious Outbreak at Cardiff Docks - Cardiff, Wednesday. - 'A serious fire occurred on board the wooden steamer "War Halifax" at 10 o'clock to-day, and so threatening has become the conflagration that it will probably be necessary to scuttle the ship before the afternoon is out. Despite the efforts of the Cardiff Fire Brigade, the ship blazed furiously, and the mid-ship structure, engine-room and stock rooms were involved. The vessel was moved alongside the jetty. The "War Halifax belongs to the Ministry of Shipping, and was built at an estimated cost of £176.000.' - The Cambria Daily Leader [850] [361] 22nd October 1919
