'Député Gaston Dumesnil'

The French owned, steel hulled, cargo ship foundered on a voyage from Penarth to Rouen and the entire crew were lost. When wreckage drifted ashore at Padstow scattered amongst it were the bodies of the crew including her master Emile Duchatel.

'Over twenty French sailors perished with the collier Deputie Gaston Dumnesnil, Emile Duchatel, master, which foundered off the Mouls while homeward bound to Rouen from Cardiff on 6th November 1921. Her rockets and flares were believed to have been mistaken for fireworks on Guy Fawkes' night.' [810]

'Député Gaston Dumesnil (France): The cargo ship departed Penarth Glamorgan United Kingdom for Rouen Seine-Maritime. She later foundered in the Bristol Channel. The bodies of six of her crew washed up on the north coast of Cornwall.' The date of the wreck is defined as 4th November 1921. [858]
