s.v. 'Kingston'

s.v. 'Kingston' - 'In October 1860 the schooner 'Kingston' of Cork was wrecked off Penarth Head. Her crew of six escaped with the help of two local men who went into the sea to rescue them'. [854]

Re-fitting a Wrecked Vessel - 'In the dreadful gale of last October, the brigatine 'Kingston', of Cork, was wrecked at Penarth. Her hull was purchased by Messrs. Hurley and Pratt of the Bute Docks, and it was afterwards raised and floated into dock, where her owners refitted and prepared her for sea. The work has been completed, and the labours of these men have been so far successful that the vessel has left port with a cargo of coals. We hope she will prove a benefit to her present owners.' - Cardiff Times [019] [361] 17th March 1860.
