s.s. 'Domingo' -  ex. s.s. 'Aberlour'

 

s.s. 'Domingo' - The Italian owned s.s. 'Domingo' ran aground and was wrecked at Doz Arelho, (near Cape Carvoeiro) Peniche, Portugal, on the 18th February 1923 whilst en-route from Penarth to Venice with a cargo of coal. There was no loss of life.

She was built in 1902 at the yard of Hall, Russell & Company Limited of Aberdeen for owners Adam Brothers also of Aberdeen under the name of s.s. 'Aberlour'. She was a schooner rigged steel screw steamer of 4,297 gross register tons with the dimensions length 365' 2" x breadth 48'2" x depth 20'4" and was of 4,194 gross register tonnage. She was equipped with triple expansion engines providing 357 n.h.p.

During December 1921 the vessel was sold for about £20,000 to Stefano Cenisi fu Davide of Genoa, Italy, and renamed to s.s. 'Domingo'. [739]  [799]
