A stern view of s.s. 'Trident' of Newcastle. She was launched at the yard of Richardson, Duck & Company Limited during August 1902 for owners the Hall Bros. Steamship Company Limited of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. 'Trident' was a general cargo, steel hulled, single screw steamer of 3,129 gross register tons being 325.0 ft. long x 46.0 ft. breath.

On the 7th August 1916 she was torpedoed by U35 when off Dragonera Island, Mallorca whilst en-route from Penarth for Livorno with a cargo of coal. There were no casualties. [833]
