s.s. 'Brookwood'

 

The s.s. 'Brookwood' was a single screw, general cargo steamer, built at the yard of Ropner & Sons at Stockton-on-Tees and launched during February 1902 for her owners, Constantine & Pickering Steamship Company Limited of Middlesbrough. She was of 3,093 gross and 1,987 net register tons being 325.0 ft. long x 48.0 ft. breath x 23.1 ft. depth.

On the 10th January 1917, whilst en-route from Penarth to Port Said with a cargo of coal, she was captured and shelled by U79 off Cape Finistère, northern Spain. There were two casualties recorded.   [801]
