barque 'John Geddie'

 

1881 - The Nautical Magazine v. 50 [1210] [499] published the following entry within 'Our Offical Log' : -

1061. John Geddie, barque ; built at Maitland, Nova Scotia, 1866 ; owned by Mr. J. A. Ledwood ; tonnage, 650 ; Penarth to Monte Video ; coals ; destroyed by fire and abandoned at sea, April 15, 1881. Inquiry held at Cardiff, July 20, 1881, before Jones, Judge ; Forster and Castle, N.A. No evidence to show how the fire was occasioned. Abandonment justifiable.
